AIXListAPAR

How to list all the APARs installed on an AIX machine

Overview

First of all, a little bit of explanation:

Acronym:Meaning:
-APARAuthorized Program Analysis Report (official patch)
-PTFProgram Temporary Fix (temporary patch)

Hey, this is IBM, where acronyms rule!

Next, the nitty-gritty:

Now, on to the real deal...

Listing the APAR

Use the command instfix -i.

For instance:

$ instfix -i
All filesets for IY58143 were found.
All filesets for IY58614 were found.
All filesets for IY58615 were found.
All filesets for IY58617 were found.
All filesets for IY58618 were found.
All filesets for IY58621 were found.
All filesets for IY58626 were found.
All filesets for IY58651 were found.
All filesets for IY58652 were found.
[...etc...]

WARNING: The listing that instfix spits out is very long. To shorten its output, you can either pipe it into a grep, or use instfix -i -k <APAR number>.

For instance:

root@galactus:/ # instfix -i -k IY89080
All filesets for IY89080 were found.

The above means that APAR #IY89080 is correctly installed on machine galactus.
