How to remove a SAN disk on an AIX machine

This is the quick and dirty method. Very useful, and something that comes from Mr TCH. Many thanks to him!

Let us say we want to remove the disk named hdisk18 from the following configuration:

root(hastur):/> lspv
hdisk0 0056f6df69770749 rootvg active
[...etc...]
hdisk18 none None
hdisk24 005366af492637df san_vg_tmp3 active

(Please note that this disk has already been removed from all active VGs on the machine)

Simply use the rmdev command as root, like this:

root(hastur):/> rmdev -l hdisk18 -d
hdisk18 deleted

And check using the lspv command:

root(hastur):/> lspv
hdisk0 0056f6df69770749 rootvg active
[...etc...]
hdisk26 0056f6df44662f26 rootvg active
hdisk24 005366af492637df san_vg_tmp3 active

Hey, presto! No more disk!

Simple, right?
