NetBSDInstallMySQL

== How to install mysql on a Net BSD server ==

I hate mysql. I hate it. It's a toy database, and a bad one at that.

BUT... It seems sometimes that everyone else loves it. And, therefore, I have to install it on my nice Net BSD machines. *sigh*

Anyway, this is just a version 1.0, a collection of commands to be entered as root, I'll complete this on a later date:

{{{ # cd /usr/pkgsrc/databases/mysql55-server # make && make install && make clean # cp -v /usr/pkg/share/examples/rc.d/mysqld /etc/rc.d/ # /etc/rc.d/mysqld onestart # /usr/pkg/bin/mysql_secure_installation # /etc/rc.d/mysqld onestop # echo "mysqld=yes" >> /etc/rc.conf # /etc/rc.d/mysqld start }}}

And, once you have done all of this:

{{{ gil-netbsd$ mysql -u root -p Enter password: Welcome to the MySQL? monitor. Commands end with ; or \g. Your MySQL? connection id is 4 Server version: 5.5.27 Source distribution

mysql> quit Bye gil-netbsd$ }}}

And... That's All For Now, Folks! ;-)
