SolarisCoredumpConfig

How to configure the coredump utility

The following are the official recommendations from Sun Microsystems itself:

# mkdir -p /var/cores
# coreadm -g /var/cores/%f.%n.%p.%t.core -e global -e global-setid -e log -d process -d proc-setid
# coreadm -u

This creates detailed 'core' files in the directory named /var/cores/ and logs pretty much everything in these core files.

While probably not ideal, it does the job and allows you to generate lots of detailed core files... Just make sure you have a lot of free disk space in /var... Which was NOT the case after I asked Sun for help! :-(
